The Nail Bar

To close out my week of loving me I decided to head to The Nail Bar for a much needed mani. The girls at The Nail Bar are super sweet and this salon is perfect dose of girly bliss. As if the pink and glitter decor wasn't enough, you can enjoy a glass of wine while choosing from the cocktail inspired menu of services.
I highly recommend trying out their Valentine's Special Chocolatini mani/pedi for $45 and a Chocolatini back facial for $50. Both Specials are valid on Sunday and include complimentary mimosas and a choclate fountain with treats!! Visit their website http://www.thenailbarhermosa.com/

A stroll downtown

Today I had long list of errands to do which are a total time suck. It was also one of those days where it wasn't really horrible, but wasn't really good. So I decided to head downtown and take a little me break to do a little window shopping...

A Week of Loving Me Day 3: Latte Break

Since it was rainy and cold I decided that for today's "me" task I was going to take a break and go have a latte with a friend. We went to my favorite neighborhood coffee shop that has yummy macaroons made from almond flour. Sometimes it's the little things that help us get through the day!

A Week of Loving Me Day 2: About Face

Day 2
Today I decided to give myself a soothing facial. I just love how my skin glows after bathing in some of my favorite products. Here's some of the things I used....

And as if that wasn't enough, I totally splurged on an early Valentine's present....the Dolce Vita Sling backs featured here and here that I have been lusting after for weeks!

A Week of Loving Me

The major thing synonymous with this month is Valentine's day. So it got me thinking, even though it's a made up holiday, it's basically a celebration of love....all love. It's not just a boyfriend or a husband we are celebrating, but girlfriends, sisters, cousins or whoever that provides love and support all year long. (Mom and Dad already have their own day so that's why I didn't list them.)

What about loving self? I mean really, who provides love and support to me more than...well, ME? And not for nothing, but I am the one I show the least appreciation for throughout the year. All too often we get caught up giving to everyone else but ourselves....almost like it's too selfish to recognize that we are worth it.

SO. In honor of loving ourselves, I have decided to try to do something I am calling A Week of Loving Me. I will try to do one thing everyday this week that is just for me. I think that we all deserve a little me time once in awhile!

I would love to hear ideas of things you do to celebrate you.

Day 1
Today I decided to make cupcakes. Normally that wouldn't really be a major deal, but for me it kind of is. I have a sensitivity to gluten which means I never get to enjoy baked goods like most people. Anything that has flour in it I am pretty much allergic to. There are places in NYC that make gluten free versions of these yummy little deserts, but I have yet to discover such a place here in L.A.
I decided to google cupcake recipes when I came across this one from the world famous Magnolia's Bakery.
I substituted the regular flour for a gluten free version, used all organic ingredients and added some food coloring and sweetheart candies to make them Valentine's Day festive...and I certainly did enjoy eating these delicious treats!! :)

A New Scent

Finding a perfume that I really like seems to be like the impossible mission. It is a frustrating feat that has me wearing the same scent for what feels like forever. I prefer sweeter scents over musk and I think I have finally found my next contender!

SJP NYC is the new fragrance by Sarah Jessica Parker. The notes include mandarin, white osmanthus, strawberry, gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa, rose, sandalwood, vanilla absolute, rum flavor and creamy musks. It smells so delicious but not at all juvenile.
The perfume is suppose to reflect the audiences perception of the Carrie Bradshaw and with the release of the Sex and the City sequel not far away this is a perfect prelude!

Count down to Fashion Week

So we are a week away from the much anticipated New York Fashion Week. Unfortunately, I will not be there. (sigh) But I am very excited to see what the designers have in store for us!
I was lucky enough to go to LA fashion week a few seasons back for a hosting gig. While LA is not nearly as fabulous as NYC, it's still a taste of what it's all about. There really are no words to describe the experience so here are some pics...

Remembering Domino

Does anyone miss Domino mag as much as I do? I must admit when Domino announced they would be no more I was more than a little devastated. Everything I knew about home decor I learned from Domino. Here are a few memories from the mag....

And if you are really in need of a Domino fix you can purchase the book on amazon.com which features some of my favorite pics from past issues along with decorating ideas and advice.
